Estado de mexico, MEXICO

Mission

Develop local leaders and social structures that holistically and sustainably transform their fragile cities, achieving a change toward SHALOM cities.

Vision

We see fragile cities with great potential but impacted by inequality, poverty, hopelessness, corruption, violence and weak institutions; transformed into SHALOM cities characterized by justice, wellbeing, hope, inclusion, safety, resilience, and sustainability.

History

Urban Mosaic Mexico was officially incorporated in early 2019. However, the work began in 2007 as a beta site in an urban poor community on the outskirts of the municipality of Chimalhuacán, part of Metro-Mexico City, under the auspices of Urban Transformation. The goal, from the beginning, was to develop a holistic change model to address the underlying factors that cause poverty, hopelessness, violence, fragmentation, migration and injustice, equipping local leaders, churches and civic groups to become change agents in their own neighborhoods.

Urban Mosaic Mexico currently works in four communities, with a host of projects, including public health, youth and children ministry, community development, violence prevention, church planting, discipleship and leadership development, among others. It also operates two community centers which house a soccer league and community library etc.
